ReplyDeleteThis a story of a boy called James who lives a happy life until his parents get eaten by rampaging rhinoceros so he has to live with his horrible aunties. Then a miracle happens a large peach grows and he goes on wonderful adventures!

The Tale of Mr Jeremy Fisher by Beatrix Potter

One of my favourites is called "The Marzipan Pig" by Russell Hoban. It is a very weird and funny book about a cake decoration made of marzipan (and shaped like a pig!) which gets lost behind a sofa. While it is behind there, it begins to think new thoughts...

ReplyDeleteWhen I was at school we read a book called 'The Shopping Basket' by John Burningham. It is about a boy called Steven who gets sent to the local shop by his mum. Steven has a shopping list and makes it to the shop to buy the items but on the way home he meets with a series of unfortunate events which result in a telling off from his mum!
I enjoyed this book as a child but I have also enjoyed using this book as a teacher. Lots of children in the classes that I have taught have enjoyed it.

One of my favourite books is 'A piece of Cake' by Jill Murphy. Although it is a book for younger children, it is a funny and enjoyable read. The Large family need to lose weight, so decide to go on a diet, however they find this more difficult than they first thought they would...

I will not ever NEVER eat a tomato by Lauren Child. One of the Charlie and Lola stories. Lola is adamant that she would not like to eat certain foods (like a tomato)but Charlie convinces her to try them by calling them different names. More of a book for younger children however I love the presentation of the stories with the interesting font and mixture between illustrations and photographs.

Burger Boy by Alan Durent-This is a book about a boy how loves burgers......... He loved them so much he turned into one. I really enjoyed it because it was well illustrated and funny.
